Organic & Mineral Products for Pulp & Paper
Vanderbilt Minerals, LLC has been selling minerals and chemicals to the pulp and paper industries for nearly 100 years. Mineral pigments for filling and pitch control, dispersing agents and thixotropes for paper coatings are offered. The products for pulp and paper are described below:
DARVAN Dispersing Agents
DARVAN dispersing agents are low foaming dispersants for mineral pigment slurries.
Pitch Control Agent DARVAN Dispersing Agents DARVAN 1 Spray DriedDARVAN 1 Spray Dried is a sodium salt of polymerized alkyl naphthalene sulfonic acids that perform as a highly effective dispersing agent for mineral pigments in a water. DARVAN 7-NDARVAN 7-N is a low foaming sodium polymethacrylate dispersing agent highly effective in dispersing mineral pigments in a water. DARVAN 7-N and DARVAN 7-NS Dispersing Agents DARVAN 670DARVAN 670 is a sodium salt of polynaphthelene sulfonic acids. It prevents settling and controls viscosity of mineral pigment slurries. DARVAN 811DARVAN 811 is a sodium polyacrylate dispersing agent. It is a highly effective dispersant for high solids mineral pigment slurries such as TiO2, calcium carbonate or kaolin clay. Filler Minerals from Vanderbilt Minerals, LLC. Kaolin Clay BILT-PLATES 156BILT-PLATES 156 kaolin clay is an effective pitch control agent. It consists of an extremely fine particle size having high surface area platy particles. Its surfaces absorb soluble or dispersed depositable chemicals (pitch) from pulp slurries. VEEGUM / VAN GEL Brochure VANZAN Brochure VAN GEL B VEEGUM TVAN GEL B and VEEGUM T are industrial grades of magnesium aluminum silicate (smectite clay). These clays impart thixotropic properties with good anti-settling characteristics to paper coatings. These thixotropes are bacterial and enzymatic resistant. VANZAN VANZAN DVANZAN D is an anionic polysaccharide (xanthan gum) produced from fermentation of carbohydrates by the microrganism xanthomormas campestris. It is supplied as a creamy-white powder which gives pseudoplastic colloidal solutions in water and is insoluble in most organic liquids. VANZAN has exceptional thickening, suspending and stablizing properties in the presence of acids, bases and salts, and at elevated temperatures. Two grades of VANZAN are available for paper coating applications: VANZAN and VANZAN D. The latter is specifically treated to promote its easy dispersion and accelerated hydration when the pH is increased to >7. |
