January, 2002 Announcement: VANLUBE® 871 Antiwear Additive
Registered on ELINCS European List of Chemical Substances)
R.T. Vanderbilt Company has received approval to sell VANLUBE 871 in Europe, starting January 30, 2002. Vanderbilt has taken the steps necessary to register this product in Europe because of the interest in using VANLUBE 871 as a novel non-phosphorus containing antiwear additive for motor oils, both in the United States and in Europe.
The unique properties of VANLUBE 871 are derived from its chemical structure. VANLUBE 871, a derivative of 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, resists oxidation, and performs effectively as an antiwear and extreme-pressure agent with metal deactivating properties. VANLUBE 871 is currently manufactured at our plant in Murray, Kentucky, and is available in bulk and drum quanities. This product is recommended as the sulfur synergist to be used with our organo-molybdenum friction reducer MOLYVAN® 855.
