VEEGUM^® magnesium aluminum silicate products are naturally occurring water-washed smectite clays used worldwide to stabilize emulsions and suspensions and to thicken a wide range of products.

[Click to view] Now available are VEEGUM grades that are certified to the European Pharmacopoeia specifications for Aluminum Magnesium Silicate EP. The production, properties and performance of these grades are identical to those noted below as Magnesium Aluminum Silicate NF.

           VEEGUM Ultra Granules
A unique acidic smectite clay that produces dispersions in the 4.2-5.2 pH range for optimum compatibility with the naturally acidic pH of the skin. VEEGUM Ultra is a designer product, white and bright, slightly acidic for personal care applications and is the easiest of all the grades to hydrate.

          VEEGUM Granules
The original and most widely used grade. It is used in all types of cosmetics and personal care products. VEEGUM is USP/NF Magnesium Aluminum Silicate Type IA.

          VEEGUM HV Granules
A higher viscosity grade used in pharmaceutical suspensions, topical emulsions and other personal care products. VEEGUM HV is USP/NF Magnesium Aluminum Silicate Type IC.

          VEEGUM K Granules
Provides good suspension at low viscosity. It has low acid demand and high acid and electrolyte compatibility. It is used in acid pH pharmaceutical suspensions and in hair care formulas containing conditioning agents. VEEGUM K is USP/NF Magnesium Aluminum Silicate Type IIA.

          VEEGUM F
An ultrafine powder perfectly suited for uniform dry blends, most useful for direct compression tablets, pressed-powder eye shadow and reconstitutable treatment masks. VEEGUM F is USP/NF Magnesium Aluminum Silicate Type IB.

          VEEGUM HS Granules
Provides maximum electrolyte stability and minimum acid demand. It is used in acid pH pharmaceutical suspensions, in hair care formulas containing conditioning agents, and in face masks. Its relatively low viscosity contribution allows it to be used at levels high enough to enhance skin cleansing. VEEGUM HS is Purified Bentonite N.F.

          VEEGUM D Granules
The preferred dentifrice binder because it ensures a stable and short paste or gel, regardless of temperature, with excellent brush stand-up, flavor release and rinseability. It works synergistically with organic gum binders, allowing the fine-tuning of dentifrice properties with minimal inhibition of fluoride recovery. The incorporation of soluble pyrophosphate with VEEGUM D Granules maximizes fluoride bioavailability.

          VEEGUM Plus Granules
A blend of purified smectite clay and CMC with very high thickening efficiency and yield value. It is easy to hydrate, white and bright, and ideal for liquid makeups and other suspension/emulsion compositions.

          VEEGUM PRO Granules
A chemically modified smectite clay and has the highest thickening efficiency of the personal care grades. It is used in sunscreen emulsions, anti-dandruff shampoos, skin cleansers and liquid soaps with abrasives.


Certified European Pharmacopoeia VEEGUM

Vanderbilt manufactures VEEGUM Granules, VEEGUM F, VEEGUM HV Granules and VEEGUM K Granules in compliance with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP)/National Formulary (NF) monograph for Magnesium Aluminum Silicate.

In addition, Vanderbilt also produces similar grades which comply with the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) monograph for Aluminum Magnesium Silicate. See below.

While complying with different monographs, the performance of each product is exactly the same, grade to grade.
