R.T. Vanderbilt Company's VEEGUM, VAN GEL Magnesium Aluminum Silicate and VANZAN Xanthan Gum products should be considered in the development of formulas for personal care or household cleaning "wipes".

Usage information:

Prior to application to the non-woven cloth, formulas are held in hopper tanks. VEEGUM, VAN GEL and/or VANZAN products have a long history as stabilizers of aqueous emulsions.

The formulator of low viscosity emulsion formulas for wipes would typically use these products alone or in combination for formulation stability and homogeneity, prior to application to the non-woven fabric.

Once the formula is applied to the cloth, these Vanderbilt products will help to retain moisture and not diminish the aesthetic feel of the product.

These types of formulas do not lend themselves to "wicking". Therefore, an applicator would consider the use of spray or trough dipping followed by roller pressing as the means of application.

Below, R.T. Vanderbilt Company provides example formulas for consideration. It is hoped these formulas will serve as a lead to the development of new and novel formulas which might be incorporated onto wipes for personal care.

These formulas have been subjected to temperature stability studies and are expected to provide the intended benefit as indicated. Vanderbilt has not performed stability of these formulas on a wipe product.
