Dispersing / Stabilizing / Thickening Agents

Dispersing Agents

DARVAN® dispersing agents assist in increasing the fluidity of aqueous suspensions of most powders by decreasing inter-particle attraction. Vanderbilt offers a wide variety of dispersing agents that are extremely effective in most applications.

Surfactants

DARVAN surfactants are processing aids useful in the manufacture of elastomeric latex products. They are water-soluble, which allows for easy incorporation into latex compounds. Many of the problems encountered during the compounding and processing of latex, such as inferior mechanical stability and surface striations, are easily resolved using DARVAN surfactants.

Stabilizing / Thickening Agents

The stabilization of an aqueous dispersion can be very challenging, particularly if it has a high solids content and the suspension must be easily poured or pumped. The use of VAN GEL® and VEEGUM® smectite clays as a stabilization agent in a dispersion can significantly reduce these challenges. These clays can also be used with other suspension stabilizers, such as VANZAN® xanthan gum, for even greater control over stability, viscosity and flow properties. In addition to stabilizing dispersions, VAN GEL, VEEGUM and VANZAN products can be used in the thickening of latex compounds.
